Baptism
But when Jesus saw this, he was indignant and said to them,
"Let the little children come to me; do not stop them;
For it is to such as these that the kingdom of God belongs."
And he took them up in his arms,
laid his hands on them and blessed them.
Mark 10: 14, 16
Baptism is a Christian sacrament of grace and commitment. It is the sacrament through which we are united to Christ and commit our lives to be Christ's disciples. This decision can be made by an adult, an older child, a young person at the time of their Confirmation or by the parents on behalf of their infant. We encourage parents who make this decision to select Godparents to help provide Christian guidance in the lives of their children, however, Godparents are not required.
Underlying the decision to be baptized is a commitment to continue your journey of faith throughout your lifetime or to guide your child in his/her early years of faith formation. Our pastor, Reverend Dr. Evelyn Lavelli, meets with baptism candidates or parents before the baptism to review the baptism ritual and the promises they will make.
Baptisms are usually celebrated on the third Sunday of the month during our worship service. Members and non-members are welcome to receive this sacrament at Pilgrim Church with the understanding that making a commitment to join a church fellowship of their choice is part of the baptismal promises.

Go therefore and make disciples of all nations,
Baptizing them in the name of the
Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.
