Artistic Depictions of Pilgrim Church
The painting of Pilgrim Church located on the top left corner of this page was the inspiration for the "colors" of this web site. Pilgrim Church is the "church by the sea," so the colors are meant to evoke the soothing waters of Cape Cod's Nantucket Sound on a warm summer's day, and reflect our motto, "Refresh Your Spirit, Worship by the Sea."
Milton Welt, a long time member of Pilgrim Church, is the artist who created this painting. Scattered throughout this web site are other examples of his renditions of the church. A winter scene is depicted on the "Home" page, and the boat on the water with the Pilgrim Church steeple in the distance enhances the "Vision and Mission" page. Inspired by the old postcard on our "History" page, Milton also created the sentimental "old town" Harwich Port street scene, found on the "Directions" page.
On this page is Milton's historic depiction of what Pilgrim Church looked like when it was completed in 1855, and a spring scene of the church along Route 28.
Milton and his wife, Barbara, are the couple pictured on the "History" page in "old time dress," celebrating Pilgrim Church's 150th anniversary in 2003.
Pilgrim Church remains a favorite subject for Milton, and we are thankful for his willingness to allow us to grace this web site with his paintings.
Other depictions of Pilgrim Church and its activities are represented on the site by photographs, the majority of which were taken by church members Wayne Hawk and Pam Eaton.
